IT infrastructure consultant in CyprusFind the amber light before it turns red.

InnovaSmith is a small engineering practice. We review, plan and document the servers, storage, backup and networks a company runs on, and we set up platform, payment and back office operations for licensed online gaming businesses. We sell no hardware and no licences, so no recommendation carries a commission.

Why an independent engineer

Advice from someone who is not selling the next box.

No commission in the advice

We do not resell hardware, licences or platforms and take nothing from vendors. When the right answer is to keep what you have, we say so.

Problems found on a quiet day

Untested backups, single switches and undocumented payment flows are cheap to fix on a normal working day and expensive to fix during an outage.

Everything in writing

Each engagement ends with documents your team can act on without us: a report, a specification, a runbook or a handbook.

Services

Two lines of work, each with a written scope.

Every service is sold at a fixed price after a short call. Scope, deliverables and timeline are agreed in writing before any work starts.

Infrastructure

On site in Cyprus, remote in the UK and Europe

  • Infrastructure health check

A structured review of servers, storage, virtualisation, backup and network. It ends in a short report that ranks every finding by risk and effort.

    You receiveReport and priority list
    DurationAbout two weeks
  • Planned maintenance

Monthly checks, patch windows and backup verification by the same engineer, with hours and response times written into the agreement.

    You receiveMonthly report
    DurationMonthly, business hours
  • Specifications and procurement

Before you buy servers, storage or network equipment, we define the need, write a vendor neutral specification and compare the offers line by line.

    You receiveSpecification and bid comparison
DurationPer purchase, usually 2 to 3 weeks
  • Backup, recovery and virtualisation

We agree how much data you can afford to lose and how long each system can be down, design backup and virtualisation around those targets, and prove them with a timed restore test. Planned moves from VMware to Proxmox or Hyper-V are included.

You receiveDesign, migration plan, test record
    Duration4 to 10 weeks

Online gaming platforms

Remote, for licensed businesses only

  • Platform migration readiness

Before you move to a new platform provider, we map players, balances, bonuses, payments, roles and reports, and plan the cutover day so that every balance and player protection is accounted for.

You receiveReadiness report and cutover plan
    Duration2 to 4 weeks
  • Payments and withdrawals setup

Cashier configuration, payment provider testing, withdrawal approval flows, limits and roles, documented so your own team can run them.

    You receiveTested configuration and runbook
    Duration3 to 6 weeks
  • Back office and team handbooks

A roles and permissions matrix and the daily procedures for support, risk and payment teams, written in English and Turkish.

    You receivePermission matrix and handbooks
    Duration3 to 5 weeks
  • Monthly platform advisory

A capped number of hours each month for a second opinion on platform changes, provider tickets, reports and incidents.

    You receiveMonthly notes

Tools

Free engineering tools, with the maths shown.

Each tool runs in your browser and sends nothing. If a result is useful, attach it to a request and we will start the call with your numbers.

  1. 01Is at least one copy of your backups offline or immutable?
  2. 02Have you restored real data from backup in the last six months?
  3. 03Is multi factor authentication on for remote access and email?
  4. 04Do you keep an up to date list of your servers and network devices?
  5. 05Are security updates applied on a fixed schedule?
  6. 06Is every administrator account personal, with only the rights it needs?
  7. 07Do your servers have a tested UPS and adequate cooling?
  8. 08Is your network documented, with passwords kept in a secure vault?
  9. 09Do you get an alert when a disk is nearly full or a drive reports errors?
  10. 10Are your servers and storage still under vendor warranty or support?

Downtime cost calculator

What an outage costs in idle staff, lost revenue and recovery work, per hour, per outage and per year.

Backup and restore time calculator

How long the first offsite copy, the daily copies and a full restore take on your links, measured against your recovery targets.

Uptime and SLA calculator

Turn 99.9% into hours of downtime, then build your own chain of components and find the weakest link.

RAID calculator

Usable capacity, how many drives can fail and how long a rebuild takes, for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and ZFS RAIDZ.

UPS runtime calculator

Add up your equipment, check the load on the UPS and estimate battery runtime as the batteries age.

Platform migration checklist

Nineteen checks for moving a licensed casino or sportsbook to a new provider, with the blockers to clear before launch.

About

A new practice run by an engineer with 25 years in the field.

Innovasmith Technology and Consultancy was registered in Nicosia in 2025. Its founding engineer has worked in IT infrastructure for more than 25 years. For about twenty of those years they designed, built and ran server rooms, SAN storage and VMware virtualisation for a large public institution, and wrote the technical specifications for its tenders.

Since then, our founding engineer has set up and run the platform, payment and back office operations of licensed online gaming businesses.

You work directly with the engineer who does the job, and we only take on work we can deliver properly.

Questions

What clients usually ask first.

How much does a typical engagement cost?

It depends on the size of the environment. After a 30 minute call we send a fixed price for a defined scope. Hourly rates only apply to work you add later.

Do you work on site?

In the Republic of Cyprus, yes, on agreed days. For the UK and the rest of Europe we work remotely and travel only when a project needs it, with travel costs agreed in advance.

Will you sign our NDA?

Yes. We also offer our own mutual confidentiality agreement as standard. Documents from one client are never reused for another.

Will you need our admin passwords?

For a health check, read only access is usually enough. It is created for us and removed at the end. We never ask for passwords by email, and access details are kept in an encrypted vault.

Do you offer 24/7 support?

No. We work business hours, Monday to Friday, and say so in every agreement. If you need round the clock cover, we can help you specify it and choose a provider.

Which online gaming businesses do you work with?

Only businesses that hold a valid licence for the markets they serve. We ask for the licence details before the first call.

Can you replace our IT provider?

Usually we work alongside them. We review, plan and write specifications, and your provider or your own team does the day to day work. Our reports are written so you can hand them to your provider as a brief.

How do invoices work?

Invoices are issued in EUR or GBP and paid by bank transfer. Larger projects are split into milestones.

Thirty minutes is usually enough to see where the risks are.

Tell us what you run and what worries you. We reply within two working days.
